Who We Help 

SIGNK has supported the following community projects thru the "Bras For A Cause" auction, our main fund raising event. If you know of other Kitsap women, children, and families in need, please contact us or apply for funding.  

2011 Beneficiaries were:


  In Support of Oncology Department Nurses and Equipment.  
Oncology nurses provide care for people with cancer. Our donations provide them support. 

  Habitat for Humanity - Women Build Project
Women make a difference in their communities by building homes and raising awareness of local housing needs.
 

Grief Counseling Program for Children
This program provides support to our county's young people, in providing quality bereavement services designed to help kids to cope with the death of their loved one.

YWCA Alive Shelter & Eli's House
The Alive Shelter provides temporary, emergency housing and support services for survivors of domestic violence and their children, each year providing housing for at least 130 at risk women and children. Eli’s House provides transitional housing for families who previously resided at the Shelter. Funds will be used toward operational expenses of these shelters.
 
  Stand Up For Kids
This program of volunteers provides help and support to the at-risk children within Kitsap County. Their clients are generally homeless or "couch surfing" at friends' homes.  Stand Up for Kids services include anything from providing a bus ticket so they can attend school. a backpack full of school supplies, or a toiletry kit.

  Assistance for homeless and near-homeless women and children.
Funding was also given to our local food banks to help with food and other services geared towards helping women and children.
 
Sharenet Kingston Food Bank
Provided funding for the weekend "Food to Grow" program that provides snacks to children when not in school. 


Central Kitsap Food Bank
Funding was also given to our local food banks to help with food and other services geared towards helping women and children.

Soroptimist Women's Opportunity Award
This award is given to women who are going back to school to improve their ability to provide for their families.  They are the primary breadwinners in their families and can use the award for tuition, book, childcare, or even transportation to classes.  See More...

  Kathleen Sutton Inspirational Fund
This fund helps women with their transportation costs to and from cancer treatment. In memory of Olympic Peninsula resident Kathleen Sutton.
 
  Violet Richardson Award
Each year we honor a young lady, between the ages of 14 and 17 for her service in the community. See More...
W.I.N - Women In
Transition
 Transition services designed for women still inside, by women now outside.
Supports women being released from Washington Corrections Center for Women (WCCW), Mission Creek, or Pine Lodge with transition, charitable, and/or educational services. Provides a network of women to help, empower, and serve our sisters as they build their new lives in the community following incarceration. See More...

   North Kitsap's After-School Program.
We support their after-school program for middle school students, providing a safe place to learn and grow.

   Young Parents & Partnership Project  
Throughout a series of workshops, this program provides information, support and skill building for parents and their children.
